The Tree of Life is a compendium of information. In the early Renaissance, when a tsunami of new information was battering the medieval intellect, a scholar called Giovanni Pico della Mirandola developed the idea of the Memory Palace. It was still possible for a single person to hold all available information. To do this he created a virtual palace. The rooms had identifiers, and in each room, and in receptacles in each room, he would store information. Thus he never had to 'remember' everything. He would simply categorize information, 'store' it in appropriately labeled areas, let go of it, and then access it by revisiting the room which held all such information.
"For at least two thousand years scholars have been storing information in the houses and paths of the Tree of Life."
Using a board game, I have developed a process for accessing all kinds of information, some we hold ourselves and don't know how to access, some that is held collectively. By walking the paths and exploring the houses in the form of a game board we can discover a great deal. The game board has many applications. It can be used for self-exploration. It can also be used to understand group dynamics, organizational development, and social forms. As we have seen, the Tree of Life is a wild card, a highly organized open hologram. When we concretize that into a board game, remarkable things happen.
